Abstract

This review examines Ramsés Radi's essay The Autonomy of the Non-Living, a work that explores the ontological and political role of digital images in shaping contemporary subjectivity. Through a philosophical and aesthetic critique, Radi argues that images no longer merely represent but actively produce forms of life, meaning, and subjectivity governed by market logic, attention economies, and algorithmic surveillance. Key themes include self-representation, the aestheticization of suffering, digital voluntary servitude, and the illusion of community in social networks.
