Abstract

This paper addresses the digitization of the religious from a philosophical reflection based on the thought of the South Korean philosopher Byung-Chul Han, who questions the digitalization phenomenon, since it aims to completely reprogram the experiential totality of the human being, comprising behavior, perception, sensations, thoughts, and coexistence in general. The paradox of this change is that the individual is unable to grasp it since he is absorbed in the digital medium. This raises various problems for philosophy, and in particular, for the philosophy of religion, such as the metamorphosis of personal identity, the relevance of “face-to-face” human interaction, the role of the body in interpersonal relationships, and the repercussions that digitality has on sociability. Hence, in the face of this overwhelming phenomenon, the spiritual dimension of the person has not escaped either since digitalization also affects the religious dimension, which results in a certain hybrid component, where the digital is sacralized, and the religious digitizes.
