The Jewish people from the perspective of Abraham Heschel
Abstract
Like other cultural groups throughout history, the Jewish people represent a conglomeration of notions, traditions, and concepts. However, one of the most outstanding is the appreciation for the origin, which highlights their sense of belonging and their appreciation for history and tradition. Certainly, belonging to the Jewish people implies a series of commitments and considerations, not only social and ideological, but also behavioral. This text alludes to the conception of the Jewish people from the perspective of Abraham Heschel, a 20th century Polish rabbi, placing special emphasis on intellectual effort, the notion of being chosen, the sense of the transcendent, the idea of family and the appreciation for perseverance, humility and responsibility.
