Diachrony and logic in the term nūr of Suhrawardī
Abstract
The term nūr has a fundamental role in the thought ʾišrāqī and within all Islamic Lexicography, as well as a singular diachrony in the thought of Suhrawardī (1154–1191), where he converges in different fields such as Epistemology, Ontology, Mysticism and Onto-theology. This article is intended to operate in the first place in a brief Suhrawardian lexicon corresponding to this important category of Philosophy ʾIšrāqī, using the cognitive approach to Frame-Based Terminology Theory. The work Ḥikma al-ʾišrāq will be used as the main source. Secondly, a brief comparative analysis will be carried out through the Logic of Predicates, the Theory of Metalanguage and the Constructive Theory of Types (CTT) of the concept of Nūr with the employment of the Arabic Elative.
