Call for Review Proposals: Currency of Nihilism by Amin Samman

22-03-2026

Dialektika: Journal of Philosophical Research and Social Theory invites proposals for a critical review of Currency of Nihilism by Amin Samman, published by Stanford University Press in 2026.

Stanford University Press has shared the book with Dialektika, and the journal is opening a call for the publication of a review essay devoted to a critical engagement with the work.

Currency of Nihilism examines the relationship between nihilism and contemporary finance, moving from speculative culture to the systemic logics of financial capitalism. We are seeking an argumentative review rather than a descriptive summary – one that situates the book within current debates in philosophy, social theory, political economy, and digital culture. Of particular interest are proposals that address what the book argues, what it contributes to ongoing discussions, where its analysis is persuasive, and what questions or tensions remain unresolved.

Those interested should send a single email including a short paragraph of 6–8 lines outlining their proposed approach, thesis, or principal angle of analysis, together with a brief bio of 3–4 lines indicating institutional affiliation, where applicable, and main areas of work or research. Applicants should also confirm that they can submit the review within one month of receiving the PDF and include a conflict-of-interest statement indicating any personal or professional relationship with the author, involvement with the book, shared institutional affiliation, or any other relevant circumstance.

The review should be approximately 2,000 words in length and may be submitted in either English or Spanish. We are particularly interested in writing that is clear, rigorous, and critically engaged.

Proposals should be sent to [email protected] with the subject line: “Review – Currency of Nihilism.”
